Since we moved to Bay Area, in 2013, I started volunteering at Peninsula Humane Society & SPCA, where I started as an animal care volunteer, helping with the laundry, kitchen and cleaning the kennels. Sometimes I still do that tasks, but now I mostly work with the dogs. I am in the team that do enrichment for dogs in quarantine and dogs that can’t leave the kennel. We need to keep them entertained and mentally healthy to endure through the process of being evaluated and move on to the next steps and in the end, be adopted.
I participate in the puppy socials too. Yeah, as cool as it sounds! Playing with puppies to teach them good manners and to socialize them. A pretty good job, I can tell you. My Fridays are happy days, as you can see. 🙂
Oh, I forgot to mention that I love Pit Bulls, so work with them is great. Of course I like dogs in general, but I do have a soft spot in my heart for the blocky heads.
Well, I am a blood donor too, at least when I don’t have fresh tattoos. Donate blood is a pretty simple way to help others and it can make a big difference in the life of the receiver. If you want donate and have no idea how to start or how it works, go to the Red Cross website or look for a blood bank in your city.
